This article aims to demonstrate that Han Kang, while not formally affiliating herself with any specific religious tradition, reveals a unique spirituality through her literary activities and works. The emphasis is on literature as life, as activity, as verb, rather than merely as a work of art. Han Kang’s literary activity itself is viewed as a process of spiritual practice. The author calls it ‘literary spirituality.’ Specifically, focusing on Light and Thread, the study illuminates the distinctive characteristics of Han Kang’s literary spirituality from three perspectives: the spirituality of seeking, which constantly asks and wrestles with questions; the spirituality of resistance, which stands on the side of life and rejects all forms of violence; and the spirituality of lived experience, which values body and senses over reason and speculation. In the final analysis, it is demonstrated that Han Kang’s life of literature embodies a sort of universal spirituality that transcends even distinction between religion and non-religion.

이 글은 한강이 공식적으로 특정한 종교 전통에 자신을 귀속시키지 않지만 문학 활동과 작품을 통해 고유한 영성을 보여준다는 점을 입증하는 것을 목적 으로 한다. 이를 위해 저자는 신앙을 궁극적 관심으로 정의한 폴 틸리히의 정의 를 따라 한강의 궁극적 관심을 추적하고 재구성한다. 또한 작품으로서 문학보다 삶으로서, 활동으로서, 동사로서의 문학에 주목하며, 한강의 문학 활동 자체를 모종의 영성 실천 과정으로 본다. 이것을 저자는 문학 영성이라고 부른다. 구체 적으로는, 최근에 출간된 􋺷빛과 실􋺸을 중심으로 문학을 대하는 한강의 태도와 자세, 몸가짐과 마음가짐을 근거로 삼아, 끊임없이 질문들을 던지고 씨름하는 구도의 영성, 생명의 편에 서서 모든 폭력을 거부하는 저항의 영성, 이성과 사변 보다 몸과 감각을 중시하는 수행의 영성이라는 세 가지 관점에서 한강의 문학 영성이 가진 고유하고 독특한 특성을 조명한다. 이를 통해 한강의 문학이 특정 한 종교의 영성이 아니라, 여러 종교를 관통하는 영성, 나아가 종교와 비종교의 구분을 넘어서는 보편적 영성의 차원이 있다는 점을 보여준다.
